Welcome & Service Agreement

Thank you for choosing Uncle Jay Cat Sits. By booking services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the following terms and conditions. These policies are designed to protect the safety, comfort, and well-being of your cat(s), your home, and your cat sitter.

Understanding of Risk

I understand that cat care involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to:

  • Escape of my cat(s)

  • Injury, illness, or death due to unforeseen circumstances

  • Damage to my home or property while my cat(s) are unattended between visits

I understand that additional risks may exist that are unknown or not reasonably foreseeable.

Cat Care & Professional Judgment

I understand that visit times may vary slightly due to scheduling demands, traffic, weather, emergencies, and the needs of other cats in Uncle Jay Cat Sits' care. I authorize Uncle Jay Cat Sits to exercise professional judgment while caring for my cat(s), including securing the assistance of a trusted backup sitter if necessary. Decisions made in good faith and in the best interest of my cat(s) are authorized under this agreement.

Cat Behavior & Unpredictability

I understand that every cat is unique and that behavior can be unpredictable.

Uncle Jay Cat Sits is not responsible for:

  • Refusal of food, treats, or medication

  • Adverse reactions to medication or treatments

  • Biting, scratching, fearful, or aggressive behavior

  • Escape attempts or successful escapes

  • Damage to household items or injuries caused by my cat(s) while unattended between scheduled visits

Indoor Cat Safety & Consistent Care Policy 🐾

I understand for the safety and well-being of every cat in my care, all cats must remain indoors for the entire duration of your trip. Keeping cats indoors allows me to provide safe, consistent care during scheduled visits while significantly reducing the risk of injury, becoming lost, theft, wildlife encounters, or traffic-related accidents.

To maintain the highest standard of care, Uncle Jay Cat Sits does not offer every-other-day visits or sporadic check-ins. Cats thrive on routine, daily observation, and consistent care. Daily visits allow me to monitor appetite, hydration, litter box habits, behavior, and overall health while ensuring your home remains secure and any concerns are addressed promptly.

A minimum of one visit per day is required for all bookings. Additional visits are strongly recommended for kittens, senior cats, cats with medical conditions, and multi-cat households.

Emergencies & Financial Responsibility

In the event of an emergency, including illness, injury, severe weather, natural disaster, or another unforeseen circumstance, I authorize Uncle Jay Cat Sits to act in the best interest of my cat(s).

I accept financial responsibility for:

  • Veterinary examination and treatment

  • Emergency transportation

  • Medications

  • Hospitalization

  • Any other expenses deemed necessary for my cat's health and safety

If veterinary expenses are charged to Uncle Jay Cat Sits on my behalf, I agree to reimburse the full amount promptly. I also accept responsibility for any injury or property damage caused by my cat(s).

Home Access & Security

I agree to maintain a safe environment for cat care services and ensure that electricity, water, heating, and cooling remain operational throughout my absence. I will disclose the presence of any video or audio recording devices inside my home. Recording devices may not be installed in bathrooms or other private areas used during cat care visits. I agree to provide two working keys to Uncle Jay Cat Sits. If keys are not kept on file, a $40 key pickup and return fee will apply.

All client keys are securely stored. One key is assigned to the cat sitter during service, and one remains securely stored as a backup.

Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service

Uncle Jay Cat Sits reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service if a cat presents an unsafe situation or if conditions within the home place the cat sitter at risk. If services must be be discontinued during an active booking and no emergency contact can be reached, I authorize Uncle Jay Cat Sits to transport my cat(s) to a licensed veterinary hospital or boarding facility at my expense.

Payment & Cancellation Policy

Payment is due one day before the first scheduled visit. General bookings require at least 48 hours' notice for cancellation.

  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the first visit will be charged 50% of the scheduled invoice.

  • Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's bookings require a minimum of seven days' notice.

  • Holiday cancellations received within seven days of the first scheduled visit are non-refundable and will be charged the full booking amount.

Unused visits resulting from early returns, delayed departures, or changes to travel plans are not eligible for refunds, credits, or rescheduling.

Medical & Behavioral Disclosure

I certify that I have disclosed all known medical conditions, medications, dietary needs, mobility limitations, and behavioral concerns regarding my cat(s).

I also confirm that my cat(s):

  • Are current on recommended vaccinations appropriate for their lifestyle.

  • Have not shown signs of a contagious illness within the past 30 days.

  • Have no known medical or behavioral condition that has not been disclosed to Uncle Jay Cat Sits.

Providing complete and accurate information helps ensure the safest, most attentive care for every cat entrusted to Uncle Jay Cat Sits.
